In British Columbia, Canada, there was a major obstacle to advancing health research: there were a lot of studies going on but no proper and easy way to match volunteers with the researchers and their projects. To bridge this gap, the provincial government joined forces with university and healthcare system stakeholders to envision an innovative solution called REACH BC.
The online platform connects volunteers with health researchers, alerting them about matching research opportunities and enabling them to ask questions directly before committing. With Sikilab’s help, REACH BC was transformed from a patchwork proof of concept into a viable web application that can quickly pivot to new medical research needs, like COVID-19.
